It seems that Boeing should consider the pilots as part of the aircraft. At present pilots are airline employees. Boeing should supply aircraft and pilots as a package. Maintenance too.

Leaving one's brand to airline operators is a bad idea.

On the other hand part of a good airline is one whose pilots can make the aircraft fly well = such as fast off the starting blocks to take-off, first turnoff when landing, low fuel burn to keep costs down, getting high speed tail winds.

Tolerance for airline crashes keeps decreasing. In the good old days they crashed regularly for many reasons. Now the crashes are very infrequent.

Airliners need to be made idiot-proof and jihad-immune. They also should be designed right.

For example the lost Malaysian airliner. It's absurd to still have search and rescue services. There should be only rescue because search is not needed when SPOT or other position location services are used. They cost nearly $0 per year. Have done most of this century.
