Bull: I think the fact that they trashed iom because of the fear that the ad expense may not pay off is silly......KE said that the last time they did a ad blitz they saw a spike right away.....I believe once the word really gets out that the 4th qt. numers were not all that bad but the fact that they trashed it was on the future ad campaign we will see a comeback.....What if the ad blitz has an effect right away and we see a great 1st. qt? keep in mind that 70mil of the lost rev. was from not shipping jazz2, buzz etc. which will ship this qt.

Stock Bull,

The price had already dropped before the conference call. The continued fall the next day was due to the new business plan. IMO to spend a 100 mil on advertising when their total net income last year was 115 mil and then to put it on the line and say we don't know that it will work is stupid.
Holding long because I can't see selling at these prices but got slaughtered on my option play.
What really burns me is their arrogance to split the stock and show a missed number while increasing their reserve.
I feel that they shit on the stock holders.

Question, how many additional Zip drives are they going to have to sell to make up for the additional 100 mil spent ?

Regards
Reseller

stock bull, >will the 100 million produce a favorable
return on investment?
<

Probably. Reading up about Compaq in the early days I learned
that they set themselves apart from 150 other computer companies
by advertising heavily on TV. The others had ads in magazines.
The product was not basically different, nor was it innovative:
they all built IBM clones. Marketing and advertising made the
difference. Where are the other 150 now?

Compaq also made sure they got shelf space in stores by giving
resellers a larger margin.

Did not the stock drop well before the ad campaign was announced?
