Hey MORON, what was the difference of your TRAIN ticket between 1st class and not 1st class??? 10%?? 20%??? Since I like to travel by train also when in Europe, I know that the price difference is miniscule compared to other types of transportation (air, cruise ship). So tell your "princess" wife next time to not expect so much when all she is paying is just a few extra euros from the regular class you MORON DUMBASS.

To this day, my wife and I wonder what the bathroom would have looked like in coach. Maybe it's nothing but a hole ...

In Italy and on the Eurostar, there is not much difference at all between 1st and 2nd class, except a 5oz cup of weak coffee, a snack and a newspaper that you can't read. That bathrooms are the same filth since many people walk to 1st class thinking they are cleaner. My wife won't use them but pays the 1Euro in the stations for clean bathrooms. We get 1st class on the busy runs (Firenze-Venezia) but there is no real difference. Since the trains reverse at some stations (Firenze) and end routes (Roma and Napoli and Milano) 2nd class actually gets you there 30 seconds earlier and closer to the station. We actually prefer the Regionale trains that are much emptier and no loud mouthed American trying to impress everybody.

With DeutschBahn we took 1st class from Verona over the Alps into Innsbruck and Munich, but 2nd class from Munich to Salzburg was just like Italy. No difference. 1st class from Budapest to Vienna was in compartments with several other people so I don't get that arrangement at all.

Last year we almost took the bus from Munich to Prague, but decided to fly at the last minute. Air fares are pretty comparable to train fares, but the airport transfers are a real pain whereas the trains and bus service is so central.
