I just went to zacks and looked at the earning projections for the next 3 quarters.... The mean est for dec97 is.77, the mar98 est is for.51, and the mean est for jun98 is .40....Why are the forward looking quarter est lower every quarter??

CC notes:

Let me say that the CC was beautiful! I have no doubt we will be up sharply on Monday.

Selected Sim quotes:

This quarter was "Spectacular"

There were "Very trying Macroeconomic conditions"

"We now basically own the PCI audio market"

We are the "clear leader in the DVD market"...highest sales, shelf space, and reviews.

New products have "huge potential"

Other Notes
*Inventory a non issue. Compared favorably when you leave out inventory from aquisitions.

*DSO declined to 32 from 35 last Q and 47 last year.

*Asia revenue declined 28%. Expect similar declines next quarter offset by strong Americas and Europe.

*Focused on Bottom line growth, not top line. Imposing strict credit restrictions to reduce risk in Asia.

*Next Q, revenues will be flat with last year (conservatively), with a 5% surpise possible, and "possibly more".

*New design win for the HP Pavilion (sub 1K) line with an Ensoniq PCI card.

*Now going after notebook computers

*New line of speakers targeted at sub 1K computers

*In active talks with Compaq. Participate in their BTO strategy through Ingram Micro. Ensoniq provides perfect fit.

*have 12% in retail graphics and speaker markets

*difficulty in keeping up with demand in graphics.

*voodoo II coming this Q.

*more cautious with regards to aquisitions. Feel they have great positioning as is.

*December patent covers wavetable audio across PCI bus. (Licencing?)

*"Very comfortable" with channel inventories.

--------------------------------------------------

Basically, the tone was extremely positive. They see huge gains in graphics and speaker markets. DVD ramp is not as fast as expected beacause of lack of supporting titles and software. Margins are projected in the low 30's. They say they are in the best postion ever.
