Druid, You cut prices and you advertise. With co-op dollars retailers have the incentive to advertise for you. Retailers obviously want to make $$$, but they also want to build traffic, "lost leaders", etc.. A great traffic builder and goodwill generator is a hot product. IOM and retailers still make $$$ on disks. As I have stated before, Should have gone to $99 in '97. Advertising IMO was weak in '97, ie, Zip+ how many consumers know what that is about? archcc (a retailer in a earlier life)
