Considering your quote "Greed is good", you should LOVE Microsoft, right? Actually, I don't think that a "bunch" of arrogant assholes are running it, probably only a few! Many have been burned out ( even Paul Allen had to leave due to health reasons ) and are now working for the myriad of companies that hire old burned out MS employees. Are we complaing about the "crappy" software they write, or the fact that they are "getting rich" and we aren't? As for "stealing software", I have had so much stolen that I will write only a very little, and if you steal it, it won't run for you! Gates was in the right place at the right time, not that he is a genius! "Jones" could have done it under the same circumstances and we would probably be mad at him. Out of curiosity, how much code do you write and give away? My current project is beginning its 5th year, and I would hope my time and experience was worth something! How about if MS marketed is software through "xvy-code" at a cheaper price and we never knew? Of course there would be no support since there would be no extra $'s to pay staff. ( Kind of like some of the software out there now! ) It is interesting that Netscape is all of a sudden releasing its' code! You think that they would have released the code out of the goodness of their heart if the current state had not existed? I think NOT! If they had any intentions of releasing the code, it would already have been done! I may not have like MS business practices, but I believe that I have a more powerful computing platform for MS having being here, than I would have without. They have generated the necessary $ to attract some of the brightest programmers to cobble code so that I don't have to write it all! If we had not had MS, what would it have been like? Have a great day! Ken
