Mel, you said > A friend of mine just bought a NEC Ready PC with
a bunch of stuff included, one of which was a built-in Zip drive. There was NO MANUAL, just Zip Tools on the HD and the backup CD-ROM...

I strongly agree with you! This is almost criminal.<g>
It is up to Iomega to insist the box manufacturer include
literature or software prominently explaining the
installed ZIP.
All this advertising and then no follow-through. :(
BTW, I observe this a lot: heavy advertising in newspapers
attracts me to a store, and store personnel knows nothing
about the ad. That is a management screw-up, wasting the
money spent on advertising!

Mel, those are GREAT points! Please do not rely on this very important msg getting to KE via this forum. Send him some certified mail, go to the IOM web site and look for a feedback channel, call investor relations, call the ad agencey (who cares who gets credit for this brainstorm). Somebody needs to address this NOW! What a colossul (sp?) boner! In fact, I urge everyone here to help Mel deliver this message. Maybe if it comes from enough of us, it will be heard. If there's no immediate response/fix, let's see that the subject comes up at the "Ground Hog Day" Emerald Conf and the next shareholder meeting. Great work, Mel.

Mel, I'm glad you showed your friend how to use his zip drive.
If he is typical, I don't think recordable CD is an immediate
threat. :-)

cheers
