That was really a different thing. They self destructed from unethical practice any third year accounting student would know to avoid. The clue was when they started shredding documents.

They went out of business because their malpractice made it impossible for them to continue the attest function that was essential to the existence of their practice. They deserved it.

Also, they were not technically a corporation, they were an LLP.

Corporate charters can be rescinded by the state which issued it. But this is normally done pursuant to specific statutory violations. I have never seen it done.
