West Texas is in tonight's storm's "severe weather" sights.

The Winter storm aspect of it to the north will contain a major icing event.
Power outages everywhere.



Storms systems have definitely been increasing in size over the last year.

The Perspecta Weather guy, who isn't normally as "impressed" as Diamond is about those usually wrong long-range snow forecasts ("Buried!!"...lol), shows how, by referencing the MJO forecast in particular, in the next few days there will be more talk about an upcoming "pattern change".
The polar vortex has been pretty well contained over the Arctic lately....getting real cold for the next displacement. There's a bit of a lower level extension with a kink in it starting over Siberia.....
