I completely agree. Although I expressed my dismay that the public
makes so much of the sexual accusations and so little of the Asian
economic crisis, I also am very concerned by my sense that the core
Republican team will sacrifice anything to destroy Clinton, including
focus on policy issues. How this will impact IMF and/or US plans I
don't know ( and after studying all of the postings on this thread,
I'm not even sure what my own position on IMF/US plans is any more!)

What you characterize as a Southern right wing attack on Clinton has, if it ever was that, become much more than that, and I believe it is self-inflicted. This White House and its ineffective Justice Department have done nothing but stonewall since the President took office.

This is not about the President's sexcapades, it's not about draft dodging, and it's not about Jesse Helms. It's about integrity and character. I suspect that a lot of people were willing to overlook transgressions he was accused committing of before taking office, but he has gone beyond that now, and it will be very difficult if not impossible for him to get out of this box.
