Microsoft's New Palm PC and Auto PC Platforms
Include Slot for SanDisk CompactFlash Cards

Over 20 Leading Companies Include CompactFlash Design Slot in
Numerous Products

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 26, 1998--SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:
SNDK - news) today announced that over 20 leading hardware manufacturers supporting
Microsoft's new Palm PC and Auto PC have introduced numerous PC Companion products which
include slots for SanDisk CompactFlash memory cards.

Palm PC and Auto PC are powered by Windows CE V2.0 which has built-in support for
CompactFlash (TM) (CF TM) memory cards. SanDisk's CR memory cards use the
industry-standard ''plug-and-play'' ATA storage interface. None of the Palm PC or Auto PC
platform products will need special software drivers to install and use CF memory cards.

Nelson Chan, SanDisk vice president of marketing, said, ''The CompactFlash memory card is an
ideal removable-storage solution for Palm PC and Auto PC platforms. CF meets the requirements
for size, low battery consumption, ruggedness and performance. SanDisk is committed to adding
technology and capacity growth to the CF form factor. We have established CF as an open standard
and, due to the many additional products that have emerged with Palm PC and Auto PC, CF has
received an added vote of confidence as the industry-standard for small removable data storage.''

Palm PC brings benefits of desktop information, synchronization, off-line Web viewing and
support for wireless communication into a device that fits in the palm of your hand. Seven leading
hardware manufacturers including Casio, Everex, LG Electronics, Palmax, Philips, Samsung and
Uniden, have recently introduced their Palm PC products with slots designed for CompactFlash
removable storage cards. In the future, expandability for these products will be done via the CF slot
for memory capabilities and I/O modules such as modems, Ethernet, wireless and open third party
applications and add-ons.

Auto PC brings interactive speech technology, connectivity, information-on-demand and enhanced
entertainment to the automobile. At least 14 auto manufacturers and after-market electronic vendors,
including leading industry firms such as Alpine, Clarion, Nissan, and Volkswagon, have
announced their support for Auto PC which includes CompactFlash slots for data storage and future
software and hardware expansion.

Harel Kodesh, general manager, consumer appliance group at Microsoft, said, ''With such wide
support for the Palm PC and Auto PC, and the inclusive CompactFlash slot, an industry-standard
has evolved in handheld mobile products. CF meets the requirements set by these platforms and has
provided designers a small, reliable and compatible storage solution.''

SanDisk CompactFlash memory cards are sold both under the brand names of leading industry
companies, such as Epson, HP, Kodak, NEC, Panasonic, and under the SanDisk brand label.
SanDisk CF cards are available in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 and 24MB.

SanDisk Corporation, the world's largest supplier of flash data storage products, designs,
manufactures and markets industry-standard, solid-state data, image and audio storage products
using patented, high density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk has strategic
alliances with Seagate Technology, Matsushita Electronic Corp., NEC Corp [Nasdaq:NIPNY -
news], and LG Semicon. SanDisk is based in Sunnyvale, CA.
