I did some digging. Apparently the reason why Reuters wrote that story was because Apple filed a 10K/A (10K amendment) on Jan 23, presumably to add a few details to the 10K filed on Dec 5th. Since the filing is not yet available to none registered user of Edgard Online, I haven't been able to find a copy it to see exactly what it says. But I suspect it simply filled in a few blanks for the earlier 10K filed on Dec 5th.

Apple's overall disappointed sentiment regarding lower fiscal 97 marketshare was already apparent in the original 10K so the 10K/A was not much of a surprise.
