Jamie was making a point and I was refuting it. Here's the quote from Jamie:
If conservatism works why is the South, which has been sold red for generations dirt poor? Without money from liberal states every red state would go bankrupt. Blue states fund our government, not red. Red states are the welfare states.
My refutation was to point out that the South started out as solidly Democrat and only came over the Republican side after the Democrats failed them and then alienated them by insulting them. In short, the poverty of the southern red states was a process over many generations, spanning both Democrat and Republican leadership. To call one party out for that is just historically ignorant.

Now, if you want to make the purest comparison between the leadership of the Democrats versus the leadership of the Republican, then lets compare California or New York to Texas. That might be a far better apples to apples comparison of how socialism fails in comparison to capitalism and why Republican business savvy is usually better for the economy than Democrat Marxist ideology.
