Rosenstein flipped to save his own ass. This was obvious when he stood beside AG Barr in an early presser.
No doubt Rosenstein has had at least a few uncomfortable chats with Barr's prosecuter, Durham.

Because when Trump fired Comey, all of DC screamed OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. It worked. Wray is over when the election is.

Your question about why President Trump appointed Wray prompted me to do a little reading up on him.

According to what is available on the internet, Wray's background looks outstanding.

I guess it's just another case of a Rat in Sheep's Clothing, like so often happens with judges.
