You won't believe this. Tuesday I was coughing quite a bit at work. I just figured that I had been smoking too much. Late in the afternoon, my stomach started to hurt worse and worse as I coughed...felt like something was tearing. Tuesday night I was realy bad...couldn't walk because I was doubled over in pain especially when I coughed.

Wednesday morning, the wife made me go to a doctor. Doctor said I had a 103.1 fever, the flu, and a hernia above my belly button that kept getting worse every time I coughed. They told me to go right to the emergency room.

Emergency room thought my lungs sounded so full of fluid that I might have had pneumonia, so they x-rayed my chest. Only the flu.

Surgeon wanted to operate on the spot but was concerned that my coughing would bring back the problem after he performed the surgery. So he shot demerol (sp?) into my thigh, and 7 shots of anestetic into my belly button. He then pushed the hernia back through the hole (I guess in the stomach lining). He said this was a temporary fix until I get rid of the flu.

Surgery will be this Thursday. Not allowed to do anything until then. If I cough too hard and aggrevate the hernia agian, he'll have to operate even earlier.

On quite a bit of medication right now, so I'm a little shakey and a tad disoriented. Been sleeping alot.

What's new with you?
