Easy - by calling around and sending the word out through a lot of other people who are dog lovers. And if I had more time, I would have found an even better home for the dog. If I had more time, I would have found him a place right within my own neighborhood. As it stands, the dog is in a neighboring town, but still a good place.

And BTW, it is not about having a perfect home for the dog, but one that is better than where he is and has minimum acceptable environment. Going with a retired guy who had 2 Dobermans before and can spend time with him is a lot better than being in cage in with a guy who is out most of the time.

BTW, as an FYI, around here Doberman puppies go for $1500 - $3500. How hard do you think it would be find a taker if you were to offer a purebred puppy for $500?

The problem was not finding a taker. The problem was finding someone that we could be reasonably sure will give the dog the care it needs.
