Imho, one of the most lively media we have these days for exploring the Next Mythos is science fiction. The works of Greg Bear, Wm. Gibson, David Brin - while there are some rippin reads there, I also find some incisive ideas on what it means, and might mean, to be human.
What the new rituals would be --- I haven't the foggiest. If you read Bear's Eon, ritual is supplanted with something else entirely. Direct connectedness. I find that ... way cool.

I suspect mankind's need for an understanding of what we are in relation to the Universe will become acute soon. We will have made self-aware machines, and as a species we will be plunged into the moral and material duties of collective parenthood, or patronhood to use Brin's terminology.
