David: Welcome to the thread...>>>When calling a company to gather the info needed to make an informed decision what, in your opinion, are some key questions to ask?<<< Depends on the type of company you are calling... I normally don't wish to talk to IR people, because they are paid to sell you on the company they are representing... Your right when you say >>>Most IR people want to paint a rosy scene and it is somewhat dificult to wade through the conversation without stepping on cow pies.<<< As a matter of fact, I think that IR people are "paid informants" on behalf of the insiders'... First of all, they cannot release inside information, so what is the point in talking to them...They're only going to tell you what you subconsciously want to hear in order to get you to purchase shares in their company... The longer they keep you on the phone and the more persistant they get, the more they get my gander up...The first question that comes into my mind...WHY THE PUSH???... I'll only contact them when I get ticked off on the way an investment is going...They really don't like to hear that...Especially if your a poster on a chat line...Their goal is to attract investment, not to discourage it... When I hear about a stock, the first place I'll head to is Stockwatch. While I'm there I'll find out how many shares are issued and one years worth of News Releases...I know a manager of large brokerage firm who only gets access to the previous three months... What good is that to me??... I want to know when and at what price the options were granted,,, at what price and when was a Private Placement done,,, what's the hold period on the Private Placement...CHARTS... I can see which house is accumlating and which one is dumping and most important of all I get access to Insider reports so that I can determine what the Insiders are doing... Try and get an IR person to give you that information... By having realtime quotes and market depth, I can watch the action on MY investments not the investments of 200 clients that a broker may have... I could keep going on and on and on..... ...ed
