Bill Gates "Traveling wave Reactor" was initiated sometime in 2010 and mentioned in my white paper of September 13, 2010 (https://www.slideshare.net/HaimBranisteanu/the-economies-of-processing-woody-forest-waste-sh ) Only wonder why it took so long to get all the licensing needed for a relative harmless reactors that slowly burns away its fuel. Could it be the US China tensions? Or it can be a policy of purposely defending the US coal and hydrocarbon baron’s by this administration? It could be that the administration also slowed the thorium based reactor research in the US at INL and funding to ARPA-E or ORNL in TN. As to Russia I trust Putin selling China rotten fish. As a side remark UK, Canada, India, France, Australia etc., do not stand still, and have quite advanced technologies as have many US based companies and DOE related laboratories. Reading the remarks on the improvements needed in building the 2 MWe thorium reactor it is obvious to me that a sloppy work was performed and a sloppy record keeping of "team China" which remarks I am very doubtful if they have been made, if the work execution would have been done by "team Germany" In another vein do not get too excited about China technologically, and best example is their approach to fusion reaction which is a global effort as far as I know and personally have my own reservation on the Russian based Tokamak design for fusion of deuterium with tritium. The fact that those subjects were lectured about by me in my Dec. 4th lecture to Israel Electricity Company, (a 13,000 employees enterprise, and a company with utterly corrupt management) to the company middle management makes the subjects mentioned above not so unique. My personal suggestion is not to be so infatuated with “team China” as it reminds me of the Israeli “hog wash” and ill-conceived propaganda or promotion of Israel as being a start-up nation of technology when in fact most ideas, R&D and development is done in E. Europe, Ukraine and stolen from EU or Russian research centers by various individuals who later commercialize the novelty.
