Regular Fox News guest Sean Parnell on Wednesday announced that he will challenge Democratic Rep. Conor Lamb in Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District. President Trump praised Parnell earlier this month during a visit to Pittsburgh, saying he would be a formidable challenger to Lamb. "I am so excited to announce that today I'm declaring my candidacy for the great people of Pennsylvania's 17th District for Congress of the United States," Parnell, an Army veteran, said in an appearance on "Fox & Friends." *** Lamb, a Marine veteran and rising star in the Democratic Party, defeated former Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Pa.) in...

Final Days for Ilhan Omar?

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Don’t expect the national media to report this, but Representative Ilhan Omar is attracting more credible opponents than any sitting member of Congress. Like angry hornets, a swarm is gathering and buzzing around her.

Her days as a Congresswoman may be numbered. It could be a finite number.

She faces at least three opponents on the Democratic side. Splitting the opposition may actually help her survive the primary. The Squad, the fawning media and the Hollywood Left will rally around her. But, the primary fight will likely leave its mark going into the November general election. It’s hard to imagine Democrats abiding by Marquess of Queensberry rules in their primary. Stinging punches, perhaps low blows will be thrown. Assuming she survives, those cuts will leave scars. Don’t expect supporters of her Democrat challengers to switch sides and vote for the Republican in November. But, many may sit out the general, opening the door for an upset.

You may say, No Way! Let me remind you of a powerful Congressman named Danny Rostenkowski. The likable Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee represented a very Democratic district in Chicago. He was arguably the most unbeatable member of Congress running for re-election in 1994. Danny got himself tangled up in the House Bank/Post Office scandal. He also was challenged in the primary. In a general election shocker, Rosty lost to a relatively unknown but credible Republican lawyer named Michael Flanagan. Subsequent investigations uncovered other improprieties and Danny ultimately served a term in a very different federal Big House.

As Mark Twain observed, “History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme”.

Congresswoman Omar has gotten herself embroiled in several scandals.

She very likely married her brother, committing immigration fraud. Marrying a sibling is still against the law in Minnesota. Doing it in order to violate immigration laws is a federal felony.

She probably was married to two men at the same time. There is pretty strong evidence to support this charge. When convenient, she hides behind Sharia Law, calling one marriage a “faith tradition” union. While Sharia permits a man to have multiple wives, it doesn’t allow Muslim women to have multiple husbands. Minnesota Law doesn’t permit bigamy either.

Rep. Omar had her hands slapped by Minnesota Campaign Finance officials for using campaign funds for personal purposes. She was fined for using campaign funds for travel. It appears that she likely paid her divorce lawyer from her campaign account as well.

Now it is clear that she continues to use campaign funds to advance her love interests. Her campaign consultant (the one she originally denied being romantically involved with) continues to receive generous campaign account paydays for his services. This is the same fellow whose wife blamed Rep. Omar for having an ongoing affair with him in their divorce proceedings. A tryst that the consultant admitted to his wife, ultimately causing their marriage to hit the rocks. The affair allegedly took place while Omar was still married to one of her husbands. The husband that she then described as the father of her children and “the love of her life.”

What is not clear is just how all of this is being received in the Somali community. Dishonoring one’s husband in such a public way is not tolerated in Muslim societies. She claims her life has been threatened. Perhaps it has.

Minnesota State Representaive Steve Drazkowski has called on the Justice Department to investigate the congresswoman. David Steinberg, writer for the Blaze is claiming that a criminal investigation may already be well underway. To date, Steinberg has proven incredibly accurate in his investigative reporting regarding Omar.

Her behavior is that of a person who believes she cannot be held accountable. That she is somehow above the law. Like a spoiled child she flaunts the rules, daring anyone to try punishing her. So far, thanks largely to a doting press, she’s gotten away with it.

From a political standpoint, her biggest problem is that she now has an image of an angry, spoiled, ungrateful child. It will take only one of several credible challengers to turn her into the Rostenkowski of 2020.

Don’t bet against it.

Baltimore cop attacked by mob as he arrests man who spat in his face

A video of a Baltimore cop getting attacked by a mob as he arrested a man who spat in his face has sparked controversy among officials in the city plagued by violent crime.

The video posted on Twitter shows a police sergeant wrestling with the suspect on the ground Friday night.

A man approaches and tries to pull the suspect out from under the officer while two other men kick him in the legs and back as several bystanders watch.

Authorities arrested one person and are working to identify the onlookers who attacked the sergeant, according to Police Commissioner Michael Harrison.

'I am outraged, as any resident of Baltimore should be, by this incident,' Harrison said in a statement Saturday.

'We cannot, and will not, allow any member of the public, or one of our officers, to be assaulted. We are now working to identify everybody involved and, when we do, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.'

Mayor Bernard C 'Jack' Young joined Harrison in condemning the crowd's behavior and praising the work of the officer, who was not seriously injured.

Sgt Mike Mancuso, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, then spoke out and said city officials shared blame for the attack.

'We are disgusted by what is shown on the video; however, this is an all too familiar scenario to our members,' Mancuso said in a statement.

'It is indicative of a broken city that is being led by people who have absolutely no real time crime plan or, it seems, even know how to formulate one.'

Mancuso added: 'Crime in Baltimore is out of control and until new leadership is elected and appointed, this lack of respect for the law and those who enforce it will continue and deepen.'

Baltimore's state's attorney, Marilyn Mosby, said she was also 'disgusted by the blatant assault against the police officer' but slammed the police union's 'continued inappropriate political rhetoric, fanning the very flames they then call on me to put out.'

'Their responses are relentlessly divisive, and they seem to lose no opportunity to misplace blame,' Mosby said.

'Our city desperately deserves better and needs to move past such divisive rhetoric, and hypocritical finger-pointing.

She added: 'The same sense of outrage in this case should be expressed by the leaders of the police union when their officers are convicted of attempted murder, assault, and unlawful arrest against citizens.'

Mancuso doubled down on his remarks after Young and Harrison addressed the attack at a Saturday news conference.

'Clearly, the Commissioner did not fully appreciate the severity of the situation in which our brave Brother found himself, despite its blatancy,' Mancuso said in a statement.

'He cannot treat our membership with disdain on a daily basis, then run to defend them when it suits his political agenda.'

To the mayor, Mancuso said: 'Go have your walk on Pennsylvania Ave, spew your rhetoric about the failed crime plan, and tell everyone how tough you are on criminals.

'We all know the truth is that you are way in over your head! Attacking me is just another attempt to take the heat off your failed leadership.'

Asked about Mancuso's criticism, Young said: 'I'm sick and tired of what the FOP is saying when they should be out here with these brave men and women patroling these streets instead of sitting behind a desk criticizing a plan that's working.'

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (pictured) expressed similar frustration with Baltimore leaders last week after it was revealed that the city set a record for homicides in 2019 with 348

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan expressed similar frustration with Baltimore leaders on Wednesday after it was revealed that the city set a per-capita record for homicides in 2019 with 348.

'It really takes some leadership in the city to star getting tough,' Hogan said at a Maryland National Guard event.

'There's no crime plan, there's no continuity and it's just simply unacceptable that people are being shot and killed in the streets every single day, and people are fed up with it.'

Hogan released a statement Saturday saying he was 'appalled and disgusted' by the incident the night before.

'Our administration is providing unprecedented state resources to combat the crime epidemic in Baltimore, but this requires an all-hands on-deck approach,' Hogan said.

'It is time we all stand together, and it is time city leaders and legislative leaders join our efforts to take our communities back.'

Friday's attack came days after Baltimore saw 12 people shot, five killed, in eight separate shootings over 24 hours on January 11.

DEMONRATS HAVE ZERO SENSE OF IRONY

David Brock’s Dark Money-Funded Super PAC Now Wants To Outlaw Dark Money

January 18, 2020 8:30 PM ET

A Democratic super PAC founded by Clinton operative David Brock that has received $17 million in dark money called on Congress Thursday to “get dark money out of our elections.”

“Billions of dollars have flowed into federal, state, and local races from billionaires and special interests who are spending unlimited and untraceable money in our elections,” American Bridge 21st Century (AB PAC) wrote in an email to its supporters Thursday. “We must put an end to Citizens United and end the corrupting influence of dark money in our elections.”

But AB PAC relies heavily on dark money.

The super PAC’s largest single donor since its inception has been American Bridge 21st Century Foundation (AB Foundation), its sister 501(c)(4) nonprofit group that, unlike a super PAC, is not required to publicly disclose the identities of its contributors.

The dark money group has pumped $17 million into AB PAC since 2010, according to Federal Election Commission records. AB Foundation does not disclose the identities of its contributors due to its 501(c)(4) status.

Financier George Soros is the second-largest contributor to AB PAC with $4.4 million in recorded donations since 2010.

AB Foundation says the millions it gives to Brock’s super PAC is meant to cover its portion of resources the two organizations share, such as employees and office space, but the American Bridge entities have had no formal cost-sharing agreement in place since at least 2015.

The foundation stated in its 2013 application to the IRS to obtain nonprofit status that it had “entered into a cost-sharing agreement” with AB PAC “to allocate shared overhead costs so that neither entity is financially supporting the activities of the other.”

But no such formal cost-sharing agreement exists between the two American Bridge entities, according to the dark money group’s audited financial statements for 2015, 2016 and 2017.

AB PAC and AB Foundation did not return requests for comment.

Brock, a conservative journalist-turned liberal hatchet man known for launching the left-wing watchdog group Media Matters, founded AB PAC in 2010 to serve as the “opposition research engine of the Democratic Party.” (RELATED: Media Matters President Wrote Blog Posts About ‘Japs,’ ‘Jewry’ And ‘Trannies’)

Multiple AB PAC employees have been arrested in recent years for assaulting Republican staffers on the campaign trail.

Media Matters, an IRS-designated charity, shares a close relationship with the openly political American Bridge entities. The three companies all reside on the same floor of a Washington, D.C., office building.

Money also flows from Media Matters to American Bridge. In 2016, for example, Media Matters donated $200,000 to AB Foundation, according to its Form 990 for that year.

Also in 2016, Media Matters had a close relationship with Brock’s other political action committee, Correct the Record, which shared office space with Media Matters while it openly coordinated with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Correct the Record drew backlash online after it invested $1 million into an army of digital astroturfers to “push back against” Clinton’s detractors on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram.

Money has also flown from AB Foundation to other entities Brock owns.

Most notably, in 2017, AB Foundation donated $1.65 million to the parent company of Brock’s online for-profit media company, Shareblue, Mediaite reported.

Shareblue changed its name to The American Independent in November 2019.
