Their contention is that if Hunter Biden looks corrupt and if it looks like Joe Biden had the prosecutor Shokin fired because he was investigating Hunter, then Trump's request for an investigation into him looks good. But they are completely ignoring the fact that it wasn't just Joe who wanted Shokin fired. It was many different people in the international community and Ukraine itself who wanted Shokin fired precisely because Shokin was NOT investigating companies like Burisma. And that is what is so outlandish about the whole thing.

Well, that is one of the outlandish things. There are many outlandish things about the Republican contentions in this case and in general. Crazy things. Insane things. And Mr. Node manages to repeat many of them, either explicitly or implicitly. Probably most importantly and most generally that Trump wants to "Drain the swamp" when Trump is up to his neck in swampishness and has been so for decades now. From that fundamental fact, everything else flows. Actually, there is no "probably" about that--it is most definitely the most fundamental fact about this administration. It would be funny if it wasn't so crazy and ongoing. If the country survives it more or less intact, no doubt someone will convert it into black humor, like Brecht did with Hitler in his play "The Resistible Rise and Fall of Arturo Ui".

>>If anyone thinks that Biden did something wrong, then the FBI should be engaged to investigate it.

Why would any Republican, particularly Trump, hand anything to the FBI that has potential political overtones? It’s reputation precedes it.

No Republican should put faith in FBI until a suitable house cleaning is complete.
