The rallies are trash talk, with some notable accomplishment, and some exaggerated accomplishment.

But it is important to remember that it is the reason the crowds come. You may remember Linda Ronstadt, easily one of the f8nest female singers of the 60s and 70s. People flocked to buy her music and attend her concerts. At one point she released an album of traditional Mariachi songs, against her record company's advice. It was a huge hit, won the Grammy, but people walked out of her concerts because they were expecting songs in English, not songs in Spanish. Her career was unharmed because she was very strong musically. But her traditional following was offended.

The point being, trash talk, etc., is what they want to see.

But today, Trump announced support for the Trillion Tree Initiative which I have read a lot about and think is easily the best near term approach to climate change, so I was glad to see it. But it got no coverage. I doubt it would, no matter what.

While I think Trump is difficult for any of the current crop of coots to beat, I would like to see him make the rallies more centrist with the topics normally reserved for other venues gradually brought into it. Believe it or not, he can create a big tent if he wants to. You’re never going to get die hard TDS constituents on board, but he could surprise.

BTW, no longer Arkansan. Now homeless North of Houston, trying to decide precisely where to land.
