FLASHBACK: President Barack Obama Fired All George W. Bush-Appointed Ambassadors in 2008

15 Nov 2019

Former United States ambassador Marie Yovanovitch testified Friday about her dismay upon being fired by President Donald Trump, but it’s actually quite common for presidents to do so after taking office.

The State Department issued a December 2008 notice to Bush-appointed ambassadors to submit their resignations, effective when President Barack Obama took office in 2009, according to the Washington Post.

A State Department official told Agence France Presse at the time that demanding all previously appointed ambassadors resign was routine.

“It’s a normal procedure for ambassadors, career and non-career, to submit their resignations. And what happens is that all of them do,” the official said at the time.

Typically, some career ambassadors are later allowed to stay in place on a case by case basis until they are replaced.

Trump also issued a notice asking all Obama-appointed ambassadors to submit their resignations when he prepared to take office, which created controversy at the time, as it appeared that he would not allow extensions.

Yovanovitch was first appointed by Obama in 2016 and confirmed by the Senate. She was askedby the Trump-run State Department to stay on as an ambassador to Ukraine through 2020, but she was fired in May 2019.

FLASHBACK: Last Impeachment Reminded NY Times of 'Nazi Germany'

Listen to the Article!

By Scott Whitlock | January 25, 2020 12:15 PM EST

Liberals in the media seem excited about the 2019 impeachment of Donald Trump, hailing the effort and those behind it. Quite a contrast to the angry tone of Bill Clinton’s 1999 trial in the Senate. Twenty one years ago today, New York Times writer Ginger Thompson went so far as to feature a quote comparing the Clinton impeachment to Nazi Germany. (It should be pointed out, this was in the first sentence of a front page story.)

Here it is:

So, a constitutionally prescribed part of our government is equal to the evil acts that led to the Holocaust? Journalists in 1999 were not exactly reasonable in how they covered the Clinton impeachment. They just happened to have a point of view that is 180 degrees from our current impeachment. Both views, not coincidentally, favor the Democrats.

Thompson’s front page story continued:

“'It is apparent that the bulldozing campaign by the Republicans will not end,' said Ms. Mendel, a psychotherapist. And in a moment of self-analysis, she added: 'Their efforts are so abusive that I was beginning to feel a sense of discouragement. I have been feeling very isolated.'

"Sunday Ms. Mendel and scores of other New Yorkers who support Clinton gathered at Hunter College to vent their outrage and discuss new ways to get their views heard in Washington.”

Barack Obama Called Trump a “Fascist” During 2016 Election in Phone Call to Senator Kaine

by Cristina Laila January 25, 2020 11 Comments

Barack Obama, the most corrupt president in US history, called Donald Trump a “fascist” during a 2016 phone call to Senator Tim Kaine.

Tim Kaine, Crooked Hillary’s vice presidential running mate in 2016, recounted the phone call he had with Barack Obama in an episode of “Hillary” which is a documentary series that will be released on Hulu in early March.

The documentary, which chronicles Hillary’s rise in DC, will premiere at the Sundance Festival Saturday night with Hillary Clinton in attendance.

NBC reported:

President Barack Obama called Donald Trump a “fascist” in a phone conversation with Sen. Tim Kaine during the 2016 presidential election, the Virginia lawmaker says in a video clip featured in an upcoming documentary about Hillary Clinton.

Kaine, Clinton’s vice presidential running mate on the Democratic ticket, recounts the call during an exchange with Clinton that was caught on camera in 2016. Kaine’s wife, Anne Holton, was also present.

“President Obama called me last night and said, ‘Tim, remember, this is no time to be a purist. You’ve got to keep a fascist out of the White House,'” Kaine says before adding with a laugh that Obama “knows me and he knows that I could tend to err.”

“I echo that sentiment,” Clinton replies to Kaine, nodding her head. “But that’s really — the weight of our responsibility is so huge,” Hillary said.

Obama was so threatened by Donald Trump in 2016 that he unleashed the might of the US government on Trump’s campaign and illegally obtained FISA warrants to spy on Trump and put his administration into chaos.
