Bill, > Iomega will either become a DVD-Ram supplier or go out of business altogether. Any counter views?

They won't and they won't. Ask your question on
the Iomega thread while they're feeling mellow.<G>

Bill,
I think it almost a no-brainer that Iomega is forced to respond to DVD. I am not sure how they will though.

best,
Stitch

Thanks for the response. I am inclined to go with tape backup now, then upgrade to DVD-RAM/RW, assuming the standards are eventually worked out. However, I wonder whether Terastor's drive will be a significant competitor to DVD. BTW, I saw a web page devoted to the problem of Click Death in Iomega Zip drives. People are complaining that the drives start making clicking noises, which indicate the drive is about to screw up, incidentally crashing the zip disk, and every subsequent zip disk used. The link is thirdeyesp.com. Someone also claimed that the Jaz drive was affected.
