Had never heard anything about them being protected. Can't imagine anyone wanting to hurt one. Starlings on the other hand, don;t get me started.

Protected species? Geez, there are tons in my NJ neighborhood.
In AZ they peck at metal streetlights. I guess bugs come out from
the glass lamphousing. It's odd to hear that metal "drumroll" sound.
