BTW, the recent rumors of Intel turning to GF for some 14nm CPU capacity is interesting in the light of Patton having gone to Intel recently, as (IIRC) "Dir of Enablement" or something to that effect. Seems he is going to "enable" Intel by having them further explore the fab lite strategy??

What would be an absolutely huge shocker, and bad for my AMD stake is if Patton pushed Intel to a speedy adoption of TSMC's 5nm for just one CPU design. Do just a CPU smallish core chiplet with Foveros (sp??) interface ala Lakefield, and bag bragging rights for first to TSMC 5nm HPC for x86. How much would it cost Intel to do that, and how much time would it take?
