Al-len, That post is, I believe, over a year old and was posted as part of researching GRNO. One of the problems of the conversion of waste oil into useable fuels has incurred, is the "coking" of the feedstock lines as process heat is applied to the incoming waste oil. GRNO has apparently solved this problem through the use of low-temperature Thermal-Cracking. The approach they have used is really quite fascinating and opens up a whole new method of decentralizing the waste oil processing system and producing quality fuels. After all, lubricating oil is just one type of refined petroleum product that has just gotten dirty. If you can further crack the hydrocarbon molecules to the length you desire through Thermal Cracking at low temperatures, and voila!! you have #2 diesel. Primarily using a boiler flare form of process heat resulted in coking of the pipes due to uneven heat distribution IOW, heat applied from below tended to overheat the surface closest to it resulting in carbonization (coking), while the upper surface was underheated. What GRNO did was to incorporate a Thermal Oxidizer as the source of process heat and directed only the required amount of the resulting exhaust plume through a heat exchanger where the heat was applied evenly and equally to all surfaces of the feedstock tubing. The Oxidizer is fueled by the excess light ends and VOC's produced from the cracking process (cetane and methane..etc) and since its actual operating temperature is in excess of 1700 degrees, it effectively eliminates all emmissions (99.6% emission free). Hope that explains the message that RileyG seemed so h*ll-bound to dig up and post from my past... :0) Now that you know more than you ever wanted to about the process of Thermal Cracking and the problems of coking in high-temperature cracking processes, I'll leave you alone and get to watching some football.... Just remember to thank Riley for giving me the chance to educate you a little....<wink> BTW, those "lifestyles" can be a real pain in the butt, can't they??? But you have to have dedication if you want to be a Christian in Action.... Also helps if you're an Ivy Leaguer... GO CHEESEHEADS!!!!! GREENBAY SCORES ON 81 YARD RECEPTION!!!!!! Regards, Ron
