If the allegations are true then Clinton is out of line. However, I don't necessarily agree that the public has come to accept less from public officials. The times and the media has changed drastically such that well known rumors, even blatant displays of affection such as Eisenhowers secretary, Kennedy's romances with Marilyn, etc. aren't accepted as being OK. The tolerance for scre**ing around is much less now that it once was and there is much less consideration for the mistique of the office.

We should try to understand how this might effect the US securities markets. Will it throw more cold water on equities? Will it create a great buying opportunity? Or will it help to further a loss of confidence in foreign and domestic finacial institutions that causes a deep recession? My hope is that this crisis will prove to be less than it appears and that any efect on the market helps to create buying opportunities.

One thing that I am convinced of that no matter which side of the issue you are on that the media has grown overly powerful and judgemental in influencing the running of the country.
