I'm sure you've heard of or seen the all-in-one LED lights. They're typically available at Big Box Stores. We have one in the hall, one in each bathroom, and one recessed light over the kitchen sink. With these, when the light fixture goes out you replace the whole thing. I still have quite a few floor and table lamps and also one wall lamp. I'm going to install LED lights in all of them eventually. I like to keep them on during the winter and realize there won't be the heat or cost that you get with incandescent lighting.

I'm coming to this movement late. ;)

We have a lot of recessed lights in our home. For 8 bucks, you can easily remove bulbs and dispense with the duct tape with one of these:
