Mike,

Regarding the Clinton administration as a whole (not Bill Clinton specifically), I completely disagree that it has either been an embarassment or that it has had unusually high levels of corruption.

Virtually EVERY administration has had corruption at the cabinet level, and this administration is in it's second term, unlike the 4-year terms of Johnson, Carter, Bush and others.

I don't think that the level of illegal activity in this administration is anything out of the ordinary, and when it has occured it has been promptly dealt with and not swept under the rug. The cabinet memebers are unique people, in at least one case they lied to the FBI during the pre-appointment investigation, I don't hold Clinton -- or any other president -- accountable for their actions unless they continued after he was aware -- or should have been -- that they occured. Yes, there have been some bad appointments (but its interesting to note that the bad ones were not personal "cronies" of the Prez). But you also have Reno, Rubin, Greenspan and some very other very exceptional and excellent people, and both the good and the bad have been generally well administered, with no cover-ups when problems did arise.

Where I can't argue with you is how Clinton's activites seem to represent a lapse of what has otherwise been, in my opinion, generally good judgement. I also can't argue your point about people losing their careers for much less, on those points you are entirely correct, although how you jump from this affair to term limits and campaign finance reform is something that has me completely baffled.

Michael,
Re -- we elected someone like him.

IMO he has done a fairly good job. The media is hypocritical in its critisizm of him. They were the ones who turned a blind eye to the rumors in the 92 election.

Besides I am sick of the media quoting rumors and leaks and hiding behind their "sources". Some in the media should be accountable and also publicly lynched when they make mistakes.
