Paper is made from wood. Cigarette paper, paper filler are added to many tobacco products. And around every paper processing plant, under the cloud of paper processing chemicals, is a dense cluster cloud of cancer cases (scattergram).

[Did not know about woodcutters... brown lung surely, but cancer? - there are a lot of reasons for that I suppose - all the additives and preservatives probably don't help.]

sawdust is a lung irritant, think about asbestos. The problem is more acute if you combine risk sources, it seems to rise more than the sum of the individual risks. So smokers who have occupations as wood workers are the work risk. I would assume smoking and asbestos exposure back in the day would have been especially bad too.

Woodworkers who work with white oak had a greater chance of getting lung cancers over other woodworkers and woodworkers have a greater chance of getting lung cancer over the general population.
Folks who operate 2 stroke engines like chain saws, weed whackers also have an increase in lung cancer.
