These companies are destroying our home...

Is There A Chance?

Can a few make a difference in the Environment?

Battle Creek, MI - The great forests of the United States will never come back under our present system of doing things.
The government not only has let special interest groups rip apart public lands, they have desecrated Native owned land, and
private property. South America, in a mistaken effort to match the export money of other countries without realizing the loss of
their own natural resources is not any better. Government officials there know of the devastating environmental impact their
actions are causing, yet close their eyes. The rain forests will be gone in two to five years.

This action has a reaction. Because of the loss of the rain forests, we will loose more than 25% of the oxygen level we
had during the 1960s, making life for higher forms of animals, impossible. There are organizations here on earth such as Rain
forest Action Network, dedicating time, money and resources to stop the depletion of the rain forests in Brazil, and other
countries, including the United States. There are two organizations trying to reclaim desert areas in the Far East, with very
good results. In Australia, the desert grows by two inches each year, tearing out the forests by almost twenty meters.

In America 15% of our forests burn each year. With a 15 year return (before enough trees grow to be considered
replanting of the forest), we are in a losing battle. Between fires and mass deforestation projects by the lumber industry,
another 10% of our oxygen level is being depleted, making a total of 35% oxygen loss by the year 2000. There is just not
enough forest coverage in America to keep that 10% much less make up the 25% loss from Brazil.

The United States will not be the guiding force for other nations in this matter. The U.S.A.. leads the world in garbage,
radioactive waste, freon use, forest mismanagement and ripping out their natural resources. Believe it or not, other countries
want the same. Most organizations are working on the Congress and Senate to change things, without much progress, at least
so far... it is however necessary to continue this venue to hope for a better future.

There are a few organizations working on another type of project. A small project to purchase forest areas, and State
repossessed farm lands and returning them to non-for-profit owned forests and wildlife sanctuaries. Only one of those
organizations wishes to purchase land for reforestation in every State. The reasoning is simple. Each 50 hectares equals 1/2
percent of the oxygen level of the country. With land purchased in each state, the likelihood of their entire forest area burning is
next to impossible.

This idea was formed by leaders at the Netherlands World Resource Summit, for each country. Reforestation and
Wildlife Project took this to heart. Leaders from several States have taken an interest in the project, and matching funds are
available for several of the projects RWP is working towards.

RWP does not have a newsletter or membership because those things cost many needed dollars that could be used for
land. However when land is purchased contributors are notified via newspapers such as this one when, where, and amount
paid for land and the upcoming costs for returning it to natural state. RWP does however have less than a 1% overhead,
leaving $99 out of every hundred for the purchase of land, a statement most not-for-profit organizations can never make.
RWP desperately needs funds to make it's dream for future generations- your children and grandchildren, possible.
