Charles, the Reilly clan comes originally from Boston, the Lamars, I think from Pensacola. Kevin Reilly, Sr., married Dee Dee Lamar, and they live now in La. I think Kevin, Sr. has an appointed-post in the current admin (will verify and get back on that). One of his sons used to be a State Rep but is not in politics at the moment. The company has billboards all over the southeast and has been fairly aggressive, imo, in buying up franchises. It's my understanding that they need no politcal pull to be dominate in the Southeast as the company has long enjoyed visibilty there and I would not think that anyone in the company would lobby for advanatge beyond what passes for fair in 'politics'. Lastly, I don't think the decision to short the stock should be based on the perception of clout. I understand, for example, Florida will spend more on bb ads to promote non-smoking than the tobacco companies did to sell cigarettes. If you are going to short Lamar, I would do so because you think it has downside potential and not because of any political connections the Reillys enjoy.
