Woody, it is something that I have observed since I was a kid. That was when Goldwater was running. Four years before that the nuns had me praying for JFK 2 b president. By age 12 I had wizened up. It has always been that the press has been a lot more critical of reps than dims. However, the gap has widened. I recall Whitaker Chambers in Witness talking about how he was shunned after he became a WHISTLEBLOWER on commies in government specifically Alger Hiss. (1950's) Would Watergate ever have happened if Nixon were a dim - I seriously doubt it. Reagan was constantly criticized for everything and characterized as old, sleepy, addled and mean. They called him the Teflon president because nothing stuck. He was beloved and Americans are much smarter than the so called elites give them credit. Reagan was a leader with a vision. The two Bushes got pummeled even though they were basically nice guy swamp rats. Gin at the country club reps.... The last dim president to actually get hammered by the press was probably LBJ and that was over Vietnam. Carter did himself in. Clinton and Bummer always had halos around their heads in their photos and the press was way over the top positive except for a few sources like WSJ. However, never in my entire life have a witnessed so much positive news totally ignored while simultaneously asked to believe articles, reports stories that would never pass muster for a tabloid talking about two headed martian babies. They are asking us to suspend reality.
