John,

Ginsberg backed away from his earlier statements that he made about how Starr treated Monica-he did so the two times I saw him this morning on Meet the Depressed and on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. They did not "quiz" her for 9 straight hours. According to Starr, she waited for her mother to come from NY. Monica was allowed to leave and go shopping and make personal phone calls.

Ginsberg even stated on Meet the Depressed, that though Starr's tactics might not have been nice, they were LEGAL. I'm wondering if the taping tactics that Starr used is directly from the governments fight with organized crime. That may be why he was able to use this tactic.

Just my 1.5 cents

I sure wish it would be good for the markets and the biotech sector, but I'm afraid that that would truely be a fantasy. I do, however, think that any drop due to this type of crises would be temporary-even surprisingly short.

As for the scandal, I suspect that all the material that Starr has and is gathering re: Lewinsky, is just the bare tip of the iceberg of what he will wind up with. The only hope for the administration was to settle "Jones" and keep this very capable lawyer and his staff away from matters of sex and lying about sex. That's why the White House propaganda factory has been knocked back on it's heels for the very first time in it's history.

Bottom line: Sure, this could be turned into just another fizzle with help from the media. But they spent Sunday morning attacking the media-a very bad sign for them. And if it doesn't fizzle, it brings the entire rotten structure of this administration down in one giant crash, Gore included.

If I don't sound too upset by that prospect, good eye!
