Datek quotes are screwed up this weekend, I've seen several mistakes already. Disregard them.

As far as your second question, it happens every morning. The bid/ask is often crossed (happens so often there's a word for it). To continue your car analogy, the ask price is left over from the previous session. It is like a sign that says "Car for sale $12000" but there's no car or seller. If you really want a seller to bring in a car for sale, you put up a sign that says "I'll buy for $14,000".
