Steve,

No question that ARTT's licenses would complement Winstar's spectrum. Unless ARTT can get some revenues going (they only did 190K in 3rd qtr) the stock may get cheaper. It would appear they may have trouble getting additional funding but time will tell.(watch the revenue figures for this latest quarter for a hint since they now have some hubs in operation) Their old business plan does not appear to be working but they have hired some new officers. Don't forget that Ameritech is a large shareholder and will probably have a lot to say in calling the shots.

This week should be interesting with the ATT news tomorrow. I don't anticipate any mention of WCII from Mr. Armstrong but one never knows.

Ed

If WinStar could buy them for anywhere near a couple hundred million, I'd think they'd be getting a heck of a bargain...>

ARTT's alltime high was $15. This would represent $300MM for ~250MM pop. I wonder how much capacity ARTT has in their MSAs.

<..Also, in FCC terms, I believe that 39 GHz is the same as 38 GHz...>

Sounds reasonable, but I've been unsuccessful in confirming this.

<..Actually the frequency WinStar uses is usually referred to by the FCC as 37 to 41 GHz...>

I have seen the FCC refer to 37.5-38.5 as a "frequency band". This would seem to allow 10 -100Mhz channels. I'm still hazey on these kind of specifics.. gonna have to dig some more.

In addition, here's an interesting broadband wireless whitepaper: ovum.com

And definitely check out the following site (and it's direct links). I hope it gets some airplay. Seems to document how dirty the Bells play, and details may have an impact on the governments case and the Supreme Court decision: newnetworks.com
