Funny you mention that since I just read an article from the Jakarta Post about China "cleaning and locking away" used currency to prevent spread of the virus..

Of course, they did say that Banks should issue new currency "whenever possible".

How long did it take to get here? Don't blink. Food shortages come on quickly.

Banks are flooding the world with digital liquidity. It doesn't just sit there pooling in the system.
Liquidity is flow...that money's flowing somewhere. The leverage off of it is what shores up the markets, not the money itself.
It's being used for another focused purpose.
