If I should lose all my gains, it is no big deal. .....it's not about losing all your gains....... it's about preserving at least most of those you already have......especially if they are large. ....you've been holding for 20 years.....so of course... no big deal..............and I suspect if AMD reaches $100 in the next two years, you still will be eating beans and franks.....well maybe an upgrade to knochwurst....but as you say, that may just apply to you. ....I had mid 6 figure gains in IBM, Intel, and AMD at the height of the dot com boom.............I retired based on liquidating my AMD and IBM positions .......but held the Intel thinking it would be the best long term. ......held it all the way to a paper loss before recovering to a very modest gain.............vowed to never do that again

Age is a factor too. I'm now only 7 years from retirement. It would be a major issue for me to lose even 30% of my AMD gains...
