Cholera and Salmonella are bacteria.

The viruses are always trying to infect as much hosts as they possibly can.

Strong hosts beat the virus up, thus. leaving the viruses at disadvantage.

The weak hosts are more vulnerable to certain strains (the infants without a proper immune system and the elderly) are beaten by the viruses and act as propagators of the viruses.

But the elderly whose bodies are already weakened by old folks diseases, are easily taken down by the viruses.
