Yup, NC is a swing I forgot.

I think MD is sorta purple because many Dem politicians are funded by big business and developers who understand that Reps are toast most of the time. As a result, many Dems are actually sorta like old northeast liberal Reps. Current Rep governor won twice, once against a hapless Dem and once against a guy who had some chops. A red state example - Maryland lags most blue states in pot deregulation, and has a vibrant set of state liqueur laws that limits competition and choice due to the long arm of local, parochial business interests.

Frankly, I think Bernie is cut from the same cloth as the two Dems who lost the most recent governor races, and I think he would stand a good chance of losing MD as a result.
