Bill, my understanding is that Gore gradually changed his position on tobacco. My goodness, isn't he from Tennessee or something? So I don't think that is particularly unusual. How was he responsible for his sister's death?

I am not an expert on Bush--sorry. I don't really know enough to say anything. (except that there have always been allegations that he, too, had a mistress. But just one!!!)

What is the question about the luxury tax about? If we are to move away from a very complicated tax system, luxury taxes may be even more prevalent. They do at least penalize the rich, not the poor. I'm not sure I am understanding your point here. Of course, reducing the demand for goods due to taxing them can put workers who produce them out of work, and that would penalize the poor.

I have been talking about politics all day. I'm probably not very coherent at this point. Sorry!!!
