".....a ride to the store and back." Just curious, did you sell that Lexus you bot in Hawaii? Have you quit driving yourself? One of the advantages I enjoy about my southern AZ location is the smaller population. We're a winter destination for a large number of snowbirds, yet it's not unusual to be the only car for a block or more, even on the main drag. We still have our share of idiot drivers, they're just a little farther away than yours.
