From what I've seen in articles on them, they like grasses very much.
It's probably a regular thing that once they get going this time of year, they'll follow spring planting from south to north. Still a lot of variables but not a good situation.
Cicadas up the East Coast this year. 17 yr. brood on the way. Should be noisy but harmless.

Locusts affecting local market futures prices (^)
Spiral galactic wave (Galactic current sheet) passage brings enough change to cause ignition of stellar birth.
The example cited is not the wave that's headed this way but very likely a more astro-effective version.
