Another Day...More Food Poisoning!

SAN FRANCISCO
Educators Suffer Possible Food
Poisoning

Monday, January 26, 1998

Seven people were treated at San Francisco
hospitals after a group of educators were hit with
possible food poisoning early yesterday morning.

San Francisco Fire Department spokesman
Lieutenant Edward Campbell said the seven were
suffering from dehydration, and none was seriously
ill.

Paramedics set up a makeshift treatment center
yesterday morning at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in
Union Square, where 190 people with
Sunnyvale-based Computer Curriculum Corp.
were staying. More than 60 people were evaluated
and released.

Campbell said officials are trying to determine
where the members of the group, in San Francisco
for a convention, had dined so they can pinpoint the
cause of the outbreak. The first case was reported
at 3:30 a.m. yesterday, he said, and within two
hours, dozens were complaining of vomiting,
nausea and dizziness.

After the fire department finishes its investigation,
the case will be turned over to the Department of
Public Health, he said.
