Regardless, shouldn't the NAND makers print money in Q1 and Q2 2020 if real prices per GB are the actually the same as what they were in Dec 2018?

IMO, the problem with that is that volume on the spot market is very low compared to the contract market. But I have thought something similar--Micron's oversized inventory which caused such consternation last year should be an asset in coming months because contract prices eventually follow spot prices.

The other problem is if business slows down considerably, there will be less demand. Higher prices would offset that to some extent, but the situation is so fluid and complicated, it is impossible for mere mortals to accurate gauge all of the conflicting cross currents.
