DISH Network is actually broadcast over several satellites, some of which are close enough together to be received on 1 dish.

There are situations in which 2 dishes are necessary to receive certain combinations of signals. They're in the process of putting all the proprietary networks (private channels, data services, business elevator music) onto the third satellite. That will allow all the consumer stuff to be consolidated so that it may be picked up on 1 dish.

I've had similar troubles with DISH. They're growing faster than their own customer service staff can keep up. That probably won't make you feel better, but that's the price we all pay to be on the leading edge of technology.
