Peter I am only guessing and I don't know about the legality but I think it would be possible for them to act as psuedo mm with regards to their own customers.(sell short out of house account) or perhaps their customer base has enough shares in street name to give them a lot of availability. Who is their clearing firm or do they clear their own trades. BTW i'm on the east coast. Stacy

From what I've concluded Peter started working for Datek when they were very small. Due his techno backround and college affliation with Josh Levine at josh.com Island was born and groomed and to the benefit of Datek. Where the ownership lines are drawn for Island are painted toward Josh's camp. So, then you must draw your own conclusions unless you want to ask then directly. Datek works fine for me now that I've learned to live with the beast, so I won't ask them.
