Wake-Up Call: Broncos, Clinton Have
Corporate America to the rescue?

Bulls are hoping that Compaq's (CPQ:NYSE) plan to buy
Digital Equipment (DEC:NYSE) in a cash and stock deal
valued at $9.6 billion will take some of the sting from the
shenanigans in Washington and that AFC win (sure sign,
the superstitious say, of a bear market). DEC shareholders
will receive $30 in cash and 0.945 shares of Compaq for
each share of DEC owned -- about a 30% premium over
Friday's close.
