Yes, of course the college kids like the idea of free college, but that is not why they support Bernie. They support him because they are progressives, like MOST people under 50. That is the reason, not free stuff. Just as they don't dislike Biden because he won't give them free college, they can read he is a center right Democrat who has a very center right record if one looks closely.

A book was just published by Branko Marcetics :"Yesterday Man" that lists his record and Trump will use it. As my younger daughter said:"I don't know if Biden can beat Trump"?

But right now , IMO, we should be focused on this very dangerous situation; and it has a real probability of causing not only many deaths but also a depression, and when we can ill afford to have one.
The Republicans have torn our social safety net to shreds and run our deficits through the roof and taken fed funds rate to near zero.

Se we are in worse shape than FDR was with regard to how we can respond, plus the village idiot who is our president will make it worse, whatever happens.

But what I am most worried about is the behavior of people if we go into a depression. We already have half the population near the poverty level and they mostly wok in the service industries which will be hardest hit. Restaurant owners are already having trouble.

I have studied the great depression and it was horrible and Trump is worse than Hoover. I am glad I live in a medium sized northwest city. But big cities could see real problems in getting work and food.

We need an FDR now, and we don't have one, or look to have one.
